16. Living Water/ The Harvest

16. Living Water/ The Harvest

“Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”” [‭‭John‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬]

Every farmer knows that the harvest follows the flow of water. And as farmers of Gods harvest, we believe that spiritual harvest flow out of the living water that Jesus gives to all who believe in him.  God is calling us to the harvest, are we equipped and ready. Let’s follow along and see how the living water flowed out of Jesus and an eternal harvest was made ready.

“Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.” [John‬ ‭4‬:‭35‬]

There is a harvest ready in your school, on your sports team, in your city.  The Lord is looking for those he can entrust the harvest to.  Where are you at in the process of becoming one ready for the harvest.  Let’s look at the picture below and understand where we are at.

I want you to see, in this scripture the Spirit filled circle of life that Jesus takes this woman through and how she becomes a harvester of Christ in her city and sphere of influence.

SAVED: One who confesses and believes that Jesus Christ is Lord

“but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”” [John‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬-‭15‬]

TRANSFORMED : One who doesn’t conform to the pattern of this world, who has moved from death to life.

“So the woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?”” [John‬ ‭4‬:‭28‬-‭29‬]

REMAINING/ABIDING:  Someone who is connected to Jesus and stays with him, he that is that bears much fruit.

“So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he remained there two days.” [‭‭John‬ ‭4‬:‭40‬]

A DISCIPLE:  Someone who follows Jesus to the point of picking up their cross daily following him and brings others along.

“Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me all that I ever did.”” [John‬ ‭4‬:‭39‬]

Empowered:  Someone who is able to hear and obey the voice of Jesus because His Spirit lives inside of them.

“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit & truth.”” [John‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬-‭24‬]

Reaper:  Someone who recognizes where the Spirit is working and works along side of the Spirit in people’s lives.

“Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”” [John‬ ‭4‬:‭36‬,38‬]

Sower:  Someone who is able to leave an impression of Jesus on people’s lives

“For here the saying holds true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’” [‭‭John‬ ‭4‬:‭37‬]

Harvester:  Someone who puts it all together and produces fruit into the kingdom.  They are saved, transformed, discipled, empowered, reaping and sowing a harvester for Christ.

“And many more believed because of his word. They said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the world.””
[‭‭John‬ ‭4‬:‭41‬-‭42‬]
